What We Do

Incight Mission: To cause the success of education, employment, networking, and independence for people with disabilities.

Incight Vision: The disabled contributing to society, which in turn means they will take less from society.

The name Incight is a hybrid of the word Incite, to spark a passion, and Insight, to possess intimate knowledge of a topic or situation.   Through self-empowerment we continuously provide the tools and skills for those with disabilities to advance their education, seek and obtain employment, and become active participants in their communities. Through all this, our main goal is achieved; to create contributing members of society who view life without any thought of limitations.

Goals

  • To educate and employ people with disabilities.
  • Help disabled youth realize their potential and what is possible;
  • Establish a higher percentage of education completion
  • Provide resources to help disabled students access education and training
  • Help students and their families gain the right mind set for a successfully transition.
  • Provide empowerment trainings for students to learn skills on leadership

Challenges

  • 16% of disabled Americans complete college (9% for those with severe disabilities)
  • 1 in 5 disabled Americans are employed
  • 60% of disabled Americans are unsatisfied with life
  • 29% of disabled Americans live in poverty

Benefits

Experts in the field of disability research point to the need for organizations to act as intermediaries between high schools, colleges and businesses in all communities. As such, we seek to be an organizational base for keeping youth connected, so they do not fall through the cracks after high school as can often happen. Incight is an important resource for each youth as they are determining the next steps and transitioning into life after high school, locating college scholarships, accessing internships, and further helping bridge the gap between businesses and colleges in ensuring a productive and employable future.

Benefits of Incight as an Intermediary to the community:

  • Prepare youth for the workplace.
  • Promote quality work-based learning activities to enhance employer buy-in.
  • Conduct outreach to other community institutions and partners.
  • Sustain dialogue between major players.

Handicrap™

Handicrap™ in simplest terms is any attitude that keeps a person with a disability or a person without a disability from moving beyond their boundaries and doing what they need to do to succeed.

Some of the biggest challenges facing those with disabilities, especially high school youth, involve being prone to self-limitation through feelings of social isolation, attitudes lacking self-confidence and self-esteem, and by believing their fullest potential is not possible because of disability.

Handicrap™ sets Incight apart. It’s a life changing philosophy; one that gives students a new perspective on life in tackling their self-imposed barriers. Through this unique aspect of Incight we not only seek to redefine how people think about and view disability, but we seek to help each client “change, grow and live.”
